Talarico Leads in Texas Senate Race Prediction Markets

Democrat James Talarico has gained significant momentum in the Texas race for U.S. Senate. Beyond recent polling, Talarico has overtaken Trump-backed Republican Ken Paxton in prediction markets Kalshi and Polymarket. This marks the first time Talarico has led on these platforms.

On Kalshi, Talarico holds a 56% chance of winning, compared to 44% for Paxton. The shift occurred as Wednesday began, following weeks of competitive polling in a state traditionally dominated by Republicans. On Polymarket, Talarico has a 52% chance, surpassing Paxton’s 48%, with the change emerging around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Robert Y. Shapiro, a political science professor at Columbia University, described this as a significant shift. He suggested it might indicate broader Democratic support in the House and Senate.
