Ted Shackelford, known for his role on “Knots Landing,” recently made a rare appearance in Los Angeles. The 80-year-old actor was photographed wearing a blue collared shirt, a blue knit cardigan, black trousers, sunglasses, and sneakers.
Shackelford gained initial fame with his role as Raymond Gordon on “Another World,” appearing in 110 episodes. He later became widely recognized for portraying Gary Ewing on “Dallas,” and continued the role in the spinoff, “Knots Landing.” His portrayal of the character from 1979 to 1993 solidified his place in TV history, although he confessed in 2013 he didn’t favor the character.
“I thought he never thought anything through. I didn’t see any strength of character,” Shackelford noted. “I mean, just once I wanted him to have some courage. And I never saw that.”
After “Knots Landing,” Shackelford appeared in various TV movies and series, such as “Cybill” and “Spin City.” He eventually returned to soap operas, playing Jeffery and William Bardwell on “The Young and the Restless” from 2006 to 2015. His last on-screen performance was in an episode of “NCIS” in 2017.
