Tiger Woods’ Potential Return to Golf

The golf world often wonders when Tiger Woods will return to the sport. This question has persisted since his recent DUI-related arrest in March. However, new clues about his comeback are emerging.

Woods’ last significant golf shot was in March 2026. He participated in a TGL event with his Jupiter Links teammates. That same month, authorities arrested him in Florida for driving under the influence, leading to two misdemeanor charges. He completed months of inpatient rehab abroad and accepted a plea deal in September, reducing the charges.

Tiger Woods Makes a Public Appearance
On September 2, 2026, Woods was seen at the Martin County Courthouse in Stuart, Florida. He was anticipated to change his plea regarding the March 27, 2026, DUI incident on Jupiter Island.

By early October, Woods was spotted hitting golf balls at a TGR Live event. This stirred speculation that he might be preparing to compete again.

Woods, now 50, is eligible for the PGA Tour Champions circuit. Although this senior tour debut is possible, Woods has yet to commit to it. This keeps other potential comeback scenarios open.

A Return in the Bahamas?
Woods hosts the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas annually. The 2026 event, scheduled for early December, presents a potential return in a limited-field tournament.

The initial list includes 17 names, with three tournament exemptions remaining. Woods could take one of these spots, but he hasn’t participated in this event since 2023.

Potential Comeback in the TGL
The 2027 TGL schedule remains unpublished. Yet, Woods is confirmed to return to Jupiter Links with Tom Kim, Max Homa, Akshay Bhatia, and Keith Mitchell. His inclusion hints at a willingness to compete again.

Returning in the TGL, an indoor league he co-founded in 2022, aligns with expectations. If the schedule mirrors 2026, the season starts in late December and continues through late March.

Woods last competed in The Open in July 2024.
