Timothy Olyphant’s Low-Tech Lifestyle: A Candid Revelation

Actor Timothy Olyphant recently shared insights into his surprisingly low-tech lifestyle during an interview on the “SmartLess” podcast hosted by Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes. He narrated his journey of resurrecting an old computer to participate in the podcast.

Olyphant, 58, explained to the hosts, “I needed a computer,” emphasizing his atypical approach to technology that includes not owning a computer. He found himself borrowing a friend’s office for the interview after his outdated desktop proved unwieldy.

“There’s a lot of sacrifices that went into this,” he admitted, highlighting the effort involved in appearing on the podcast.

The “Justified” star revealed his minimalist tech setup, mentioning he has “a phone and a thing”. When pressed further by Bateman, who questioned if Olyphant owned any tech tools like an iPad, he elaborated on his ownership of a computer that had remained unused for so long, it became a project merely to start it. “We went and got out an old desktop computer,” Olyphant said, describing how he needed USB connectors for the archaic setup.

Despite Bateman’s questioning, Olyphant steadfastly maintained his stance that a phone suffices for his technological needs. He jokingly noted: “You can do all that on… on the little phones,” when the conversation shifted to artificial intelligence.

Olyphant’s career took off in 1999 with “Go”, and he achieved stardom with roles in “Deadwood” and “Justified”. Other notable projects include “Santa Clarita Diet”, “The Mandalorian”, “The Book of Boba Fett”, and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”.
