3 weeks ago 0

President Trump announced that Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has approved a deal to open the Strait of Hormuz and start diplomatic discussions regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump indicated that the approval came in the form of a “very strong” memorandum of understanding, which he described as “a little conceptual.” The signing ceremony is anticipated to be held in Europe over the weekend, with Vice President Vance representing the U.S. at the event.

According to Trump, Iran has agreed not to pursue the development of nuclear weapons. Earlier on Thursday, Trump had threatened military strikes against Iran and considered taking control of Kharg Island, an essential oil export hub. However, five hours later, he called off the strikes, noting progress in negotiations aimed at resolving the Middle East conflict that has persisted for over 100 days.

“Discussions and final points have been, in both concept and great detail, approved by all parties involved,” Trump stated in a post on Truth Social. Efforts by the Trump administration aim to ensure safe passage for oil and commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz, while also restarting talks over Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.
