Trump Endorses Kolodin in Arizona Secretary of State Election

Former President Donald Trump has stepped into the race for Arizona’s Secretary of State by endorsing Republican Alexander Kolodin. This endorsement gives Kolodin a notable boost. Trump expressed his support for Kolodin on Truth Social after Kolodin secured the Republican nomination against Gina Swoboda.

Kolodin faces Adrian Fontes, the Democratic incumbent, in the upcoming general election. Kolodin belongs to the Freedom Caucus and has echoed Trump’s claims of election fraud.

Trump’s backing highlights the significance of this race, as the winner will oversee voting and certification processes in a crucial swing state for the 2028 presidential election. Trump’s endorsement will test his influence beyond his core supporters amid declining poll numbers.

Kolodin’s chances have improved since Trump’s endorsement, with the Kalshi prediction market increasing his probability of winning to 18.1 percent. This marks an uptick from the previous 12.1 percent on Saturday.

Despite the rise, Fontes remains significantly ahead with an 81 percent chance of victory. Kolodin’s chances peaked at 31 percent on December 28, 2025.

Kolodin expressed his commitment to fair elections on X, declaring, “Our campaign is about protecting every vote, regardless of Party.” He emphasized his goal to restore lawfulness and stability to the Secretary of State’s office.

The Secretary of State in Arizona manages statewide election administration, such as certifying voting equipment and election results. Kolodin has the support of Turning Point USA and several Arizona GOP members of Congress.

He is notable for leading lawsuits aimed at overturning the 2020 and 2022 election results in Arizona. These efforts faced criticism from the judiciary and the state bar association. In 2023, he was sanctioned by the Arizona State Bar for his role in challenging the 2020 election.

Kolodin was involved in the “Kraken” lawsuit, representing Trump’s campaign. It alleged election fraud by then-Secretary of State Katie Hobbs and Governor Doug Ducey. The lawsuit targeted mail-in ballots and Arizona electors in favor of Joe Biden. However, Judge Diane Humetewa dismissed the case, citing a lack of evidence.
