Firefighters in Spokane, Washington, are working to control three wildfires as swift-moving flames have led to the evacuation of approximately 5,000 homes on the northern side of the city on Saturday.
According to officials, over 600 structures had been destroyed by Sunday morning. This number is expected to rise as damage assessment teams begin their work, stated Benjamin Cossel, spokesperson for the federal team overseeing the response. The exact breakdown of how many of these structures are homes or businesses remains unclear.
