Former reality TV star Spencer Pratt shared a photo on social media after losing the Los Angeles mayoral race. The image, showing a duck in water at sunset, appeared on the platform X without any text or explanation.
Associated Press called the race for Nithya Raman at 7:55 p.m. ET on Monday. Raman, a progressive city councilmember, will face incumbent Mayor Karen Bass in a November runoff.
By Tuesday evening, with 98 percent of votes counted, Bass led with 34.3 percent. Raman had 29 percent, and Pratt held 25.5 percent.
Newsweek reached out to Pratt’s campaign for comments after the loss.
Primary Outcomes
Raman’s victory in the primary sets up a face-off with Bass in November. Pratt, initially a competitive candidate, saw the final count favoring Raman.
The election reshaped the political scene, sparking a contest between two known figures in local politics.
Pratt’s Campaign
Though unsuccessful, Pratt’s candidacy drew significant media focus and online discussions. He criticized city leadership after fires last year destroyed his home.
On X, his post-election image had over 335,000 views and 1,000 replies by Tuesday night.
Newsweek found no other recent posts from Pratt across his social platforms, marking this as his first significant online activity since the race outcome was announced.
