Marjorie Taylor Greene Criticizes Trump’s Military Actions

Former Republican U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene criticized President Donald Trump and his team on CNN with Kaitlan Collins. Greene claimed that Trump’s staff is making him appear foolish by failing to address his past statements about avoiding wars.

Greene highlighted Trump’s campaign promise to avoid new military conflicts. Her remarks followed the administration’s justification of military actions as a response to incidents near the Strait of Hormuz. According to U.S. Central Command, Trump authorized retaliatory strikes after a U.S. Apache helicopter was downed near this strategic waterway. U.S. officials blamed Iran for the incident. However, uncertainties remain about whether it was a targeted attack or an accident involving an Iranian drone.

The criticism from Greene is significant because she was once a loyal Trump supporter before distancing herself over the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. Trump has since called Greene “wacky.”

In an interview with ABC’s Kristen Welker, Trump responded to questions about changing his stance on wars: “I didn’t guarantee no war. Why would I have built the strongest military in the world?” Trump added that he promised to end foreign wars, a major campaign claim for 2024. Greene pointed out the discrepancy between Trump’s promises and current military actions in regions like Lebanon and Israel.

Greene criticized Trump’s communications team, stating they failed to prepare him with evidence of his past anti-war statements. She argued that they made him appear foolish by not reminding him of his own promises.

With recent retaliatory strikes, the gap between Trump’s anti-war stance and ongoing military actions has become contentious among his political supporters. Greene emphasized that previous videos of Trump’s promises cannot be erased from the internet.

New Strikes Against Iran

On Wednesday, U.S. Central Command announced additional self-defense strikes against targets in Iran. These actions were justified as a response to ongoing aggression.

In a follow-up announcement, CENTCOM refuted claims by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that the Strait of Hormuz is closed, assuring that commercial ships continue to transit the strait.

Fox News’ Trey Yingst reported that Iranian officials contacted Trump in the Situation Room to request a halt to the bombings. Trump responded that the strikes would cease shortly.
