An Indiana substitute teacher, Cassidy Carter, faces two years in jail following charges related to sending nude images to a 14-year-old student. The sentencing was delivered after Carter pleaded guilty to two counts of battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, as reported by WXIX-TV. The court granted her two days of credit.
Carter, who was initially charged with child solicitation, saw the charges change due to developments in the case. The shift occurred after the victim moved away and expressed a desire not to be involved further, according to Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens.
Carter’s actions came to light when the 21-year-old was employed as a substitute teacher at South Dearborn Community School Corporation. The student revealed the situation to a school resource officer in December 2023, who subsequently informed the school’s principal.
The student stated he had developed a friendship with Carter via Snapchat. During these online exchanges, Carter sent nude images regularly, particularly after taking showers late at night. Investigators uncovered these images on Carter’s phone, alongside multiple messages, prosecutors said.
