Shooting at Idaho In-N-Out Leaves Several Dead and Injured

A deadly event unfolded at an In-N-Out Burger in southern Idaho on Saturday afternoon, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. According to Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks, the shooter was among the deceased, and authorities are working to identify the shooter and their motive.

Chief Hicks assured the public, stating, We believe the threat to the community is over. He added that the exact number of casualties and injuries remains uncertain as they inform families of the victims. He described the scene as very chaotic.

Earlier, Twin Falls County Commissioner Brent Reinke reported that Sheriff Jack Johnson informed him of five injuries. Witness Lane Koehn, 34, was nearby when he saw an individual with an AR-style rifle exit the drive-thru and open fire. A man with a pistol returned fire at the shooter.

Koehn also witnessed a person in an In-N-Out uniform dragging a bleeding colleague, hit in the chest, across the parking lot. They, along with the armed man, stayed until paramedics arrived. She was pretty bad off, but I don’t know. I hope she made it, Koehn expressed.

Koehn said police advised evacuation, noting the shooter fired at least three or four rounds. It remains unclear if specific individuals were targeted. The incident occurred amidst a bustling shopping area crowded with hundreds, Hicks stated. Police are interviewing witnesses and seeking public assistance for information.

Former prison chief and Commissioner Reinke learned of the event prior to 4 p.m., noting a swift multi-agency response. Authorities have urged residents to avoid the vicinity as roads remain closed.

St. Luke’s Magic Valley medical center spokesperson Taylor Marschner affirmed they are working closely with law enforcement and emergency responders as they manage the situation.

Twin Falls, home to around 56,000 residents, is situated about 130 miles southeast of Boise and 75 miles north of the Nevada border.
