The political landscape in Wisconsin is known for its tight races, and the latest Democratic primary for governor underscored this reputation. Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley emerged victorious over socialist candidate Francesca Hong, securing the Democratic nomination.
Crowley prevailed by a narrow margin, approximately 3,800 votes, from a total of 792,000 ballots cast. The initial polls had shown Hong with a significant lead, exceeding 20 points, just two weeks prior to the election. However, as the primary approached, support consolidated around Crowley, a moderate candidate perceived as more electable by traditional Democrats.
This shift illustrates the internal dynamics within the Democratic Party, where moderate and progressive factions are currently vying for influence.
