A judge has permitted the use of a new congressional map in Missouri, favored by Republicans, for the upcoming fall elections. However, the state Supreme Court might soon review this decision. The map was redrawn last year by Republican state legislators to potentially secure seven out of Missouri’s eight congressional seats, influenced by former President Donald Trump’s administration.
Richard von Glahn, the executive director of People Not Politicians, addressed the media on Wednesday outside the Cole County Courthouse in Jefferson City, Missouri, highlighting the ongoing debate surrounding this map.
The recent approval provides Republicans with a potential advantage in the elections. Nonetheless, the possible upcoming intervention by the state Supreme Court adds an element of uncertainty to the situation.
