NATO has deployed fighter jets in response to a potential unmanned aerial vehicle approaching Romania. This action heightens concerns that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine might extend into NATO regions.
On Tuesday, Romania’s defense ministry confirmed that two F-18 jets from the Spanish Air and Space Force took off from Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base 57. This intervention occurred after the detection of an aerial target approximately two miles east of Vylkove, which borders Ukraine and Romania.
Residents in northern Tulcea County, Romania, received warnings about possible falling debris and were advised to seek shelter. However, the defense ministry did not clarify if the reported drone breached Romanian airspace.
This is an evolving situation, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
