Israel Captures Hamas Security Chief in Gaza Raid

1 month ago 0

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) captured Mu’in al-Arabid, the head of Hamas’ General Security Apparatus, during a raid in Gaza. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the successful operation, indicating an incursion deep into Hamas-controlled territory.

An Israeli security official confirmed al-Arabid’s arrest, highlighting the maneuver as part of a broader strategy against Hamas. The IDF conducted airstrikes to ensure the safe exit of their forces, reporting no Israeli casualties.

“A short time ago, a senior Hamas terrorist was arrested, and this is our policy: We do not wait for threats. Instead, we pursue Hamas terrorists, thwart them, and destroy their terrorist infrastructure. We have built a strong and unprecedented security zone in Gaza to protect residents and IDF soldiers,” Katz stated.

According to Katz, nearly 70% of the Gaza Strip is under Israeli control, with significant destruction to the infrastructure and displacement of residents. The IDF plans to remain in the region until it achieves the demilitarization of Hamas and the destruction of all terrorist tunnels. Katz emphasized that any attempt to breach the security zone will be met with a firm response.

This raid follows the Trump administration’s demand for Hamas to disarm. Jared Kushner, a senior advisor and President Trump’s son-in-law, has been actively involved, suggesting U.S. support for Israeli efforts. He emphasized the need for visible actions from Hamas to demonstrate their commitment to peace.

Kushner’s recent meetings revealed Hamas’ stated willingness for peace, though skepticism remains due to the group’s history. He outlined the U.S.-led “Board of Peace” initiative, which proposes a phased approach involving a ceasefire, demilitarization, Israeli troop withdrawal, Palestinian governance, and international reconstruction.

The calculated stance of Israel, backed by U.S. diplomatic efforts, reflects a strategic push towards long-term security and stability in the region.
