Abdul El-Sayed, a progressive candidate, has won the Democratic Senate primary in Michigan, narrowly defeating Haley Stevens. This sets up a challenge against Republican Mike Rogers. Rep. Jim Banks from Indiana has voiced concerns about El-Sayed’s alignment with the Democratic Socialists of America, focusing on healthcare and border policies.
As the election approaches, Soros-linked funds are significantly impacting Democratic campaigns. By the end of June, Democracy PAC and its successor had disbursed over $40 million to Democratic groups, according to campaign finance records. Beneficiaries include the Senate Majority PAC and House Majority PAC, among others.
Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign, committed to reducing the influence of money in politics, indirectly benefits from these funds. The Senate Majority PAC, having received substantial support from Soros, has pledged substantial spending to aid El-Sayed’s campaign in Michigan. El-Sayed stated in a 2025 interview that the political system allows for corruption through significant funding from wealthy individuals and corporations.
El-Sayed aims to reduce political funding influence, enhance economic policies for individuals, and support Medicare for All. When contacted by Fox News Digital, El-Sayed’s campaign did not comment but is expected to attend a fundraiser in California hosted by Jeffrey Soros.
Alyssa Brouillet, representing Mike Rogers, argues that El-Sayed is inconsistent in his stance on money in politics, critiquing his association with wealthy donors. Meanwhile, Rogers advocates for reducing costs through initiatives like suspending the gas tax.
As more campaign finance reports are expected, the full extent of Soros family funding will be clearer. The Justice & Public Safety PAC, associated with Soros, targets electing progressive prosecutors and addressing justice reform. So far, it has allocated nearly $2 million.
The Soros network, primarily through Open Society Foundations, focuses on various reforms, prompting criticism from conservative figures. Other supported initiatives include the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund and Fair Fight, which promotes Democratic candidates in Georgia.
Additionally, Democratic governors Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Abigail Spanberger of Virginia received financial support during their 2025 campaigns from Soros-connected entities. The full scale of these operations might not be known until later, as some of the funding channels operate through organizations with delayed disclosure requirements.
George Soros has transitioned control of his operations to his son, Alex Soros. Their spokesperson declined to comment when asked by Fox News Digital.
