Illegal Immigrants with Criminal Records Linked to Violent Attacks in New York and Virginia

2 hours ago 0

Illegal immigrant Alexis Antonio Cedillos-Campos has been arrested for the fatal stabbing of Virginia mother Carmen Lizet Puch on a hiking trail in Great Falls. Former Secret Service agent Charles Marino appeared on ‘Fox & Friends First’ to discuss the suspect’s previous release under the Biden administration, calling for accountability from those responsible for managing border security.

Meanwhile, in New York City, two Dominicans living illegally in the U.S., Dangelo Rafael Jean Caraballo, 25, and Sneider Mejia Bautista, 24, are on the run. They are accused of the attempted murder of off-duty NYPD Detective Jose Mercedes during a robbery. The suspects tried to steal Mercedes’ gold chain while he was unloading his car. When Mercedes resisted, they stabbed him multiple times. Despite his injuries, Detective Mercedes chased them for two blocks before collapsing.

Detective Mercedes was taken to the hospital and has since been released. Both attackers are still at large. Markwayne Mullin, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), criticized the Biden administration’s border policies, stating, “This horrific crime could have been prevented if it weren’t for Biden’s open borders and the America Last policies of New York sanctuary politicians.” Mullin emphasized the need for local authorities to cooperate with DHS to ensure dangerous criminals are removed from the streets.

According to the DHS, both Caraballo and Bautista entered the U.S. illegally via the Arizona border at different times. They have extensive criminal backgrounds in New York. Caraballo’s arrests include charges like reckless endangerment, unlawful fleeing from a police officer, possession of burglar’s tools, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and second-degree menacing with a weapon. After a December 2024 arrest for possession of burglar’s tools, local authorities released him, preventing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from lodging an immigration detainer.

Bautista’s criminal history involves charges of criminal possession of stolen property, grand larceny, and weapon possession. Following an October 2025 arrest on a weapon charge, ICE lodged a detainer against him, but local officials declined it, citing New York City’s sanctuary policies. DHS also highlighted that Bautista’s swift release after other arrests hindered ICE’s ability to take custody.
