Country Music Stars Enjoying Hunting Season

1 hour ago 0

This fall, several country music stars are enjoying hunting season. Luke Combs, Riley Green, Parker McCollum, and Sam Barber have all joined the ranks of hunters. Chris Janson shared his Colorado elk-hunting experience with OutKick OutDoors, and now Koe Wetzel has joined in with an impressive bull elk.

Koe Wetzel, the Texas-born singer, shared photos on Instagram, showcasing his successful hunt. Standing behind the massive bull elk, he holds a compound bow across the animal’s body. The elk’s antlers are notably large, and Wetzel seems pleased with his achievement. His post simply captioned “Oklahoma Breakdown” may hint at the location or serve as a nod to a song by Stoney LaRue.

The Instagram post followed another recent update, where Wetzel shared music-related photos with the caption, “Posted from a remote area hunting elk.” His enthusiasm for hunting matches narratives from his appearance on the “Country Outdoors” podcast. Wetzel stated that hunting season takes precedence over nearly everything else, marking October to February as periods when contact with him could be met with reluctance. He reaffirmed his dedication to the sport during a June interview, explaining his deep-rooted love for hunting.

“October to February don’t call me cause you’re probably not gonna get a nice response,” Koe Wetzel said.

Koe Wetzel has been hunting since his childhood days in East Texas. His appreciation for the outdoors began well before his music career took off. In a talk with Hook & Barrel in 2024, he shared that he received his first bow at age 8 and continues to practice archery throughout the year. Wetzel sometimes takes his bows on tour with him, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to the sport.

This is not Wetzel’s first encounter with a large elk. He has previously shot a big bull in New Mexico from more than 540 yards with a rifle. During another appearance on “Country Outdoors” in 2025, he detailed harvesting a bull elk with a score exceeding 380 inches. While it’s unclear if these refer to the same animal, Wetzel certainly has experience with big game hunting.

Though his latest Instagram post lacks specific details about the elk’s score or the hunt’s particulars, it highlights his prowess in chasing impressive game. For those eager to learn more, contacting him during hunting season might not be advisable.
