The Dallas Cowboys have been playing their home games at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, since 2009. Their headquarters and training facility are located at The Star in Frisco, approximately 36 miles from the stadium. Second-year Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer resides in McKinney, Texas, which is about a 30-minute drive from the team facility.
Seeking to minimize his daily commute, Schottenheimer has decided to sell his expansive McKinney home and purchase a new property nearer to the team facility. The listing agent for Schottenheimer’s current residence emphasized the importance of proximity to work in the coach’s decision. “Every minute counts at that level,” noted Carrie Himel, a representative of Compass Sports & Entertainment, in her discussion with The Dallas Morning News.
The house, measuring 5,700 square feet, was listed for $3.8 million in mid-April as per Zillow. The Collin County Appraisal District has valued the property at nearly $2 million for tax purposes. Himel remarked that the home quickly found a buyer due to its unique appeal. “It’s a private, serene oasis,” she said, describing the house. “Every window offers views of nature. We were lucky to find a buyer fast.” McKinney is approximately 17 miles from The Star, and Schottenheimer’s new home location remains undisclosed.
Built in 2021, the four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath home features amenities like a movie room and an infinity-edge pool. It also has a garage with space for three cars. Schottenheimer transitioned from defensive coordinator to head coach in January 2025, following Mike McCarthy’s departure.
The home’s nature-filled environment provided the Schottenheimer family with opportunities to engage with local wildlife. An unusual incident occurred in late October when an owl flew into their home during a game-planning meeting before a match against the Arizona Cardinals. The family later contacted animal control to safely remove the bird.
Under Schottenheimer’s leadership, the Cowboys ended their season with a 7-9-1 record, missing the playoffs. For more sports coverage, you can follow Fox News Digital on X or subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
