Bryson DeChambeau Faces Tension at LIV Golf Finale

1 hour ago 0

Bryson DeChambeau finds himself in a tense situation as the LIV Golf season finale approaches in Indianapolis. With the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) announcing the end of its funding post-2026, the future of LIV Golf remains uncertain. This uncertainty is further emphasized as the prize money for the event has been reduced from $20 million to $10.1 million.

DeChambeau, key figure of LIV Golf, seems to be feeling the pressure. His frustration was evident when he engaged with the media at the practice range of The Club at Chatham Hills. He humorously referred to the gathered reporters as a ‘mafia,’ hinting at the media’s role in the current discourse around him and the league.

According to Sean Zak of Golf.com, the interaction at the practice range was mostly in jest, but it set an awkward tone for the following day’s events. Ryan French, known for his Monday Q Info account, reported being asked to leave by DeChambeau’s team, despite doing nothing unusual at the site.

“Bryson gave me a call this afternoon, we spoke for about 20 mins,” French shared. He noted that the conversation’s details would remain private, yet appreciated DeChambeau reaching out in a personal call.

Despite the tension, the LIV Golf circuit continues its journey, with DeChambeau and other players preparing for their final rounds of the year. DeChambeau comes into the event following a T-38 finish at LIV New York alongside a challenging major championship season where he missed three out of four cuts.
