Canadian Woman Arrested in Florida for Fraudulent Identification

Police body camera footage captured the arrest of a Canadian woman in Florida after a traffic stop revealed fraudulent identification cards. The incident unfolded when Hillsborough County deputies stopped a vehicle in Tampa on July 29. The car’s taillights and tag lights were not functioning.

The driver, identifying herself as Brianna Valenzuela, later revealed her actual name as Bryce Swanson, 28. Swanson initially claimed she had a driver’s license but did not have it on her. Further questioning led her to admit she had never held a valid driver’s license, contradicting her earlier statements.

When deputies searched her vehicle, they discovered 12 driver’s licenses, each displaying her photo but with varying names and dates of birth. Swanson is a Canadian national who overstayed her visa, according to authorities.

“Swanson told deputies she did not have an ID and had never possessed a valid driver’s license, after initially claiming she did,” wrote Sheriff Chad Chronister on X.

The body camera footage shows Swanson explaining her travel from New York to Florida, declaring she was visiting friends. The absence of New York identification raised suspicions among the deputies.

“Your story’s not making a lot of sense to me, right?” a deputy questioned. Swanson replied, “I’ve never had a driver’s license or anything like that.” The search revealed numerous fraudulent IDs.

Deputies arrested Swanson, charging her with driving without a valid driver’s license and using a false name with law enforcement. She was taken to Orient Road Jail, held without bond due to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer.
