Christopher Jackson Returns to ‘Hamilton’

Christopher Jackson, acclaimed for his role in Broadway’s ‘Hamilton,’ will be stepping back into the shoes of George Washington. His return to the Richard Rodgers Theatre is set from September 8 to January 3.

Jackson, originally a cast member alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda, was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance. Describing his desire to return, he said, “I wanted to touch the thing that I feel turned me into an artist.”

Impact of Original Cast Members

Jackson follows Leslie Odom Jr., who reprised his role as Aaron Burr, boosting the show’s box-office performance. The musical achieved over $4 million in a week, marking its highest since 2018.

Jackson’s return was inspired by reconnecting with fellow cast members during the show’s 10th anniversary. He remarked on the unique vitality he experiences in the production, saying, “The timing was right and, quite honestly, I needed that infusion and that challenge again.”

Christopher Jackson’s career spans various successful productions. Before ‘Hamilton,’ he played roles in ‘The Lion King,’ ‘In the Heights,’ and ‘Memphis.’ He contributed to TV programs like ‘The Electric Company’ and ‘Sesame Street’ as a composer and songwriter.

Following ‘Hamilton,’ Jackson worked on CBS’s ‘Bull,’ HBO Max’s ‘And Just Like That,’ and appeared in ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ and ‘Freestyle Love Supreme’ on Broadway. He also lent his voice to ‘Moana.’

Fond Memories

Jackson recalls the Richard Rodgers Theatre fondly, calling it his “favorite building in New York” and a site of profound artistic experiences. He looks forward to creating new memories in the venue.

Many cast members, including Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Phillipa Soo, gained recognition after their performances in ‘Hamilton.’ Lin-Manuel Miranda’s fame grew significantly from the show’s success.
