Dodgers Face 3-0 Deficit After Loss to Brewers

1 hour ago 0

The Los Angeles Dodgers faced a challenging moment in their postseason run on Wednesday. Their 6-2 defeat to the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series marked their third consecutive loss.

After the game at Dodger Stadium, third baseman Max Muncy delivered a blunt assessment of the team’s performance. “We’re playing like s—, they’re playing great. As simple as that,” Muncy stated. His remark highlighted the team’s struggle, reflecting a sentiment not yet expressed in his series plate appearances.

Muncy, an All-Star, has been facing difficulties, hitting only 4-for-21 this postseason. Despite the slump, three of Muncy’s hits have been home runs, all achieved during the previous series, the NLDS. However, in their current matchup against the Brewers, the Dodgers have yet to hit a home run and are struggling with runners in scoring positions, going 3-for-32 in the postseason.

During the sixth inning on Wednesday, catcher Will Smith provided a spark by driving in two runs with a clutch hit. This gave the Dodgers a temporary 2-1 lead. But the Brewers quickly turned the game around. Reliever DL Hall entered and managed to strike out the Dodgers’ next two batters, preventing further scoring opportunities.

In a turn of events, the Brewers responded with a two-run homer by Jake Bauers in the seventh inning against Blake Snell, flipping the score in their favor at 3-2. Garrett Mitchell added to the Brewers’ advantage with a solo home run, increasing the lead to 4-2. The Dodgers’ offense then stalled, with nine consecutive batters retired by the end of the game.

With the series now 3-0, the Dodgers’ pursuit of a third consecutive World Series title is increasingly uncertain. Their next game against the Brewers is scheduled for Thursday at 8 p.m. ET. The team’s struggle is a critical moment, as they aim to overcome the current deficit and avoid a sweep in the championship series.
