FAA Greenlights Proposed Trump Arch Design
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has reviewed and approved President Donald Trump’s plan for a 250-foot triumphal arch, concluding it would not endanger aircraft. This decision came after an aeronautical study conducted by the agency.
The proposed structure is planned to be located at Memorial Circle in Arlington, Virginia. The site was chosen for its historical significance and visibility to pilots. The FAA emphasized the need for enhanced visibility of the arch, suggesting it should incorporate specific features.
Features for Pilot Visibility
To ensure pilots can easily recognize the arch, the FAA recommended the inclusion of “a non-standard eternal flame.” The agency also suggested continuous illumination using floodlights and searchlight projectors positioned around the base of the arch.
These measures aim to create a prominent landmark that can be identified during various weather conditions and times of day, improving navigational safety in the area.
The decision reflects careful consideration of aeronautical safety and landmark design.
