A Tale of Resilience
It’s May in Maryland. The weather is warm and inviting. Ludovic Mbock, a talented Street Fighter player, would love to wear shorts in the pleasant outdoors. But he chooses not to, concerned about the attention it would draw. Hidden beneath his pant leg is an ankle monitor, a constant reminder of his recent struggles.
Since his release on a $4,000 bond in March, after six weeks in immigration detention, Mbock thinks of the monitor every morning. The device is a symbol of the challenges he faced during his detention. Despite these challenges, he made a notable appearance Saturday at the Combo Breaker festival in Schaumburg, Illinois.
