Indiana University’s football team extended its winning streak, securing a 20-17 victory against Nebraska on Saturday. The game took place at Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, with Indiana showing resilience in a fourth-quarter comeback.
For much of the game, Nebraska threatened Indiana, who had not lost since the first round of the 2024 College Football Playoff. Indiana hadn’t trailed in a match since their 2025 Big Ten Championship clash against Ohio State.
Indiana clinched their 27th consecutive victory against unranked teams. Their last loss to an unranked opponent was against Purdue on November 25, 2023. Under Curt Cignetti’s leadership, Indiana’s record stands at 33-2.
Quarterback Josh Hoover played a crucial role, completing 12 of his 22 passes for 263 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Wide receiver Nick Marsh bolstered the team with six receptions for 187 yards and two touchdowns.
The first half proved challenging for Indiana’s offense, managing only 115 yards and scoring three points via a 42-yard field goal from Nico Radicic.
Nebraska started strong, initiating the scoreboard with a 28-yard field goal by Kyle Cunanan, concluding a 66-yard drive, and later extending their lead with a touchdown by Nyziah Hunter following a 75-yard drive.
At halftime, Nebraska led 10-3, and despite missing a 40-yard field goal attempt, they dominated possession for over 22 minutes.
Indiana opened the second half with another Radicic field goal, narrowing the gap to 10-6. Nebraska’s Anthony Colandrea later expanded their lead with a 39-yard touchdown run, making it 17-6.
Hoover immediately responded by connecting with Marsh on a 75-yard touchdown pass, narrowing the deficit to 17-13.
In a pivotal moment, Hoover found Marsh for another 44-yard touchdown, giving Indiana a 20-17 lead.
Nebraska attempted to reclaim their advantage but fell short, concluding the game with a failed fourth-down conversion. Indiana’s defense ensured the victory by continuously holding their ground.
Nebraska, now 5-1, will prepare to face No. 13 Oregon, while Indiana looks ahead to playing No. 5 Ohio State.
