Jake Lang Arrested in Dallas for Terroristic Threats

3 weeks ago 0

Jake Lang, a far-right influencer previously involved in the January 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection, was arrested in Dallas, Texas. He was previously pardoned by former President Trump. Lang faces a state charge of making terroristic threats, related to a recent murder trial.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported Lang, 31, was arrested Tuesday after disembarking a flight in Dallas. He faces a third-degree felony charge of making a terroristic threat and has been booked into the Dallas County Jail.

Reports indicate Lang appeared outside the Collin County courthouse multiple times during the murder trial of teenager Karmelo Anthony. On Tuesday, a jury found Anthony guilty of murder in the April 2025 death of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a track event in Frisco, Texas. Anthony received a 35-year prison sentence.

Anthony’s family claims Lang threatened to shoot Anthony in the head if he wasn’t convicted.

During the trial, Lang reportedly held a sign reading “White Lives Matter” with a photo of Austin Metcalf outside the courthouse. In a video posted to his social media, a man claiming to be Lang described being charged for allegedly making threats, criticizing what he called a misuse of law against First Amendment protestors.

Lang’s bail has been set at $1 million, and CBS News has not obtained any comment from his legal team.

The arrest is Lang’s latest legal issue since the pardon. He was arrested recently in Frisco, Texas, for trespassing, and in March, he faced charges in St. Paul, Minnesota, for vandalism to a sculpture at the Minnesota Capitol.

Lang was initially indicted in 2021 on 11 federal charges related to his alleged activities during the January 6 riot, including assault on an officer. He was pardoned by Trump before his trial commenced.

Andrew Anthony, Karmelo Anthony’s father, expressed relief over Lang’s arrest but noted ongoing challenges due to sustained racial threats following the verdict. Despite the conviction, Anthony’s family maintains the teen acted in self-defense. Karmelo Anthony did not testify during the trial.

The case attracted national attention, drawing protestors both supporting and opposing Anthony during the trial proceedings. Protests were organized by Lang in support of Metcalf, promoting slogans like “Protect White Americans.”

Metcalf’s father has consistently urged against politicizing his son’s death and has expressed forgiveness towards Karmelo Anthony.
