Jason Dohring, known for his role in ‘Veronica Mars’, has taken a break from acting to explore a different passion. In a recent podcast appearance, the 44-year-old actor revealed that he developed an interest in gardening around four years ago. He informed his agents that he intended to focus on farming.
“I just got an interest in it,” Dohring shared. Over the past three years, he created three farms. He emphasized his motivation to produce healthier food, noting the impact of food on people’s health. He began his farming journey in Los Angeles and later established a 14-acre farm in West Virginia, where he personally planted 3,500 out of 4,000 trees.
I really realized that people are getting sick from the food that they’re eating.
The actor now resides on an 11-acre farm in Florida with his wife, Lauren Kutner, and their four children. He moved to Florida for its favorable weather conditions compared to California. Dohring pointed out the challenges in Los Angeles, where water scarcity hindered farming efforts.
“L.A. is crazy. You can go eight, nine months with no rain,” Dohring stated. “In Florida, we get infinite rain. We have infinite manure. You could farm for free.”
Dohring implements regenerative farming methods on his Florida farm, aiming to grow crops without chemicals. This technique improves the quality of his produce. He recounted an encounter with an experienced farmer who appreciated Dohring’s innovative approach to agriculture.
I’ve been in agriculture since I was 12. I’ve never seen anything like this before.
Dohring gained fame as Logan Echolls on ‘Veronica Mars’, alongside Kristen Bell. He starred in various projects, including ‘Moonlight’ and ‘The Originals’, and returned for the ‘Veronica Mars’ feature film in 2014 and its 2019 revival season. His last acting role was in ‘SEAL Team’ in 2021.
While he is currently focused on farming, Dohring anticipates returning to acting in the future. He expressed his love for art and the excitement it brings him. Having recently participated in a short film for a friend, Dohring remains connected to the creative world.
Dohring married Kutner in 2004, shortly before ‘Veronica Mars’ premiered. The couple first met in high school, and Dohring considers their friendship the core of their marriage. Together, they have four children: Owen, Lily, Ainsley Mae, and Isla Avery.
On social media, Dohring recently celebrated two decades of marriage, expressing deep gratitude for his life’s journey with Kutner and their family.
