WASHINGTON, DC – MAY 22: In a notable ceremony at the White House, Kevin Warsh assumed the role of Chairman of the Federal Reserve on May 22, 2026. The event marked a departure from recent customs.
U.S. President Donald Trump was present as Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas administered the oath of office. Jane Lauder, Warsh’s wife, stood by his side during the ceremony, held in the East Room of the White House. Warsh takes over from Jerome Powell, who led the Federal Reserve for eight years.
Warsh steps into his new role amid significant economic hurdles, including rising inflation that burdens U.S. citizens, partly due to the ongoing conflict in Iran.
Attendees of the ceremony included key figures such as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett, and Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh, among others.
