Kewan Lacy Aims for Success Amid Challenges at Ole Miss

6 days ago 0

The Ole Miss Rebels experienced a remarkable season, yet Kewan Lacy did not consider it a success. Lacy, the standout running back, stated, “I grade it based off of that – that the ultimate prize wasn’t won,” during a recent interview with Fox News Digital.

The Rebels managed to navigate the turbulence caused by Lane Kiffin’s departure to LSU just before the playoffs. Throughout the postseason, the team faced uncertainty regarding which assistants would remain, as many followed Kiffin to LSU.

Lacy reflected on the season saying, “We still came up short. The main goal is to get to that national title. Yet we never let the outside noise get to us. We focused on playing game by game.” He acknowledged the business aspect of football, understanding that changes are part of the game. Despite the circumstances, Lacy emphasized the player’s responsibility saying, “At the end of the day we have to go out there and play football.”

For the upcoming season, Lacy will wear the Q-Collar, an FDA-cleared device designed to protect the brain from the effects of repetitive head impacts. The collar applies light pressure around the neck to limit brain movement during collisions.

Lacy’s mother discovered the Q-Collar and recommended it to him. “She found it, saw other players using it, and suggested it to me. After some research, she believed it would benefit me and my brother,” Lacy explained. “It has helped me find ways to protect myself and maximize my time on the field.” He advocates for the use of equipment like the Q-Collar to ensure athletes’ safety and prolong their careers.

As an All-American, Lacy now has added protection to enhance his performance. With teammates like Trinidad Chambliss returning, the Rebels have high expectations. “With our new staff and pieces, we must approach each game individually,” Lacy remarked. He remains hopeful for a successful season, stating, “We can finish the deal. I just can’t wait.”
