Michael Alfonso, a Wisconsin congressional candidate, joined ‘Fox & Friends First’ to discuss primary results impacting the midterm elections. Alfonso responded to James Carville, a veteran Democratic strategist, who cautioned Democrats about aligning with far-left progressives such as Hasan Piker. With inflation and economic concerns at the forefront for voters, Alfonso outlined why he believes conservative solutions appeal to the public.
Alfonso, the son-in-law of Sean Duffy, the Secretary of the Department of Transportation, and Rachel Campos-Duffy, a Fox News host, recently secured the Republican nomination for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District. At 26, he was supported by former President Donald Trump, who lauded him as a rising star on Truth Social. Alfonso seeks the seat once held by his father-in-law, covering northern Wisconsin.
It is my Great Honor to endorse MAGA Warrior, Michael Alfonso, a young ‘STAR’ running to represent the incredible people of Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District,” Trump had written on social media.
Trump praised Alfonso’s plans to grow the economy, reduce taxes and regulations, support American farmers, and safeguard the Second Amendment, among other priorities.
Wisconsin’s 7th District has been a Republican stronghold for 15 years. The Cook Political Report considers it a secure Republican seat. Trump received about 60% of the district’s votes in the 2024 presidential election.
Alfonso will contest the November elections against Democrat Fred Clark, who won his party’s primary for the district. Clark, a former state assemblyman, believes northern Wisconsin could form a ‘new rural majority.’ He touted an approach based on community representation, contrasting traditional left- and right-wing politics.
Alfonso’s campaign includes ambitions to dominate American energy and bolster border security. He emphasized a focus on veterans and military support.
