Thousands are gathering nationwide for ‘No Kings’ protests on a designated day of action coinciding with the start of early voting in numerous states. The No Kings Coalition, known for opposing President Trump’s policies, orchestrates these events to energize early voter participation.
In Washington, D.C., protestors marched with a banner proclaiming “Your vote is your voice.” Other signs echoed sentiments like “Pro-American, anti-Trump” and “Hands off my vote.” The Lincoln Memorial served as a rallying point for demonstrators in the capital.
In Dallas, Texas, Teresa Cox from the Texas Organizing Project encouraged local voters to engage in early voting starting Monday. She highlighted the significance of informed voting, advising citizens to understand issues and candidates to make personal choices.
“Voting is one of the most important ways we participate in our democracy,” Cox stated, emphasizing that the power of the vote belongs to the individual, not to a party or organization.
Atlanta’s rally featured Council Member Michael Julian Bond urging participation during Georgia’s early voting period, highlighting that every day in this period is effectively Election Day.
Previous widespread protests led by the No Kings Coalition, including over 3,000 events in March against military actions in Iran, saw significant turnout. Last year, millions participated in events organized in June and October protesting Trump’s administration.
