Nature lovers are gathering at Huntley Meadows Park in Alexandria, Virginia, drawn by an unusual sighting. The focus of attention is a tree frog displaying rare blue coloring, a deviation from the common green pattern.
Recently, Mar Acevedo, a retired public high school teacher, stood on a trail overlooking the lush marshes of the park. It was early morning, just after sunrise, when he was hoping to catch another look at this unique amphibian.
Acevedo first spotted the blue tree frog about a week prior. He discovered the rare creature in a small area of the expansive park, located near Telegraph Road. His interest and curiosity brought him back to the location, hoping to witness the rare sight once more.
