Paula Scanlan Commends Aryna Sabalenka
Paula Scanlan, an advocate for women’s sports, appeared on ‘Fox & Friends’. She praised Aryna Sabalenka, the top-ranked women’s tennis player, for supporting the World Tennis Association’s stance. This stance addresses the inclusion of biological males in women’s competitions. Scanlan, once a teammate of transgender swimmer Lia Thomas, shared her views on the matter. She also touched on Martina Navratilova’s criticism of Caitlin Clark’s neutral position, describing it as a ‘bailout’.
Nick Kyrgios Faces Provisional Suspension
Nick Kyrgios, the former Wimbledon finalist, has shared a personal update. He has received a provisional suspension from tennis after a positive cocaine test. This occurred during the Mallorca Open in June. Kyrgios, aged 31, stated on Instagram that he takes full responsibility for his ‘huge mistake’. Known as tennis’ ‘bad boy’, he expressed feeling ‘helpless and alone’ due to injury struggles.
‘I am sorry to my fans, family, sponsors, and especially to the kids who look up to me,’ Kyrgios wrote. ‘I know the impact of my actions and am deeply disappointed.’
Kyrgios Reflects on Challenging Times
During a match against Aryna Sabalenka in December 2025, he reflected on his career challenges. Injuries have made it hard for him to meet his own expectations. Kyrgios described the struggle of nearing the end of his career as daunting.
I didn’t choose tennis – it chose me. But letting go of something so integral to my life is difficult. At times, I’ve felt helpless and alone.
Kyrgios now faces a possible four-year ban, although a shorter suspension might be likely. Dan Evans, a British player, was also suspended for a year in 2017 for cocaine use. Kyrgios has not contested the provisional suspension effective since August 4. The International Tennis Integrity Agency mentioned that his sample was taken on June 22, with results confirmed on July 17, following a Wimbledon doubles match.
After a knee injury in October 2022, Kyrgios largely stayed off the court for nearly two years. In 2025, he returned, posting a 1-4 record. He competed in a single Grand Slam, losing in the first round at the Australian Open.
Despite these setbacks, in December 2025, Kyrgios beat Aryna Sabalenka in a ‘Battle of the Sexes’ match in Dubai.
