Police have identified the individual responsible for opening fire at a new In-N-Out Burger location in Twin Falls, Idaho. The suspect, Chad Williams, 24, was subdued during the shooting by an off-duty state trooper and an armed citizen who returned fire.
According to Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks, Williams died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after fatally shooting an employee and a customer. Authorities believe Williams acted alone in the incident, and he was found dead near the restaurant.
“We want to take a moment and commend the actions of the off-duty officer and the citizen and their heroic action to stop this incident,” Hicks said during a news conference. “We believe their actions helped drive the suspect away from the scene, preventing further casualties.”
The incident resulted in three fatalities and seven others injured, as previously reported by city spokesperson Josh Palmer. Authorities mentioned that two of the injured have been released from the hospital, three are in stable condition, and two remain in critical condition.
