Secretary of State Marco Rubio directs an international conference with representatives from over 60 countries to address far-left political terrorism. Rubio emphasizes the dangers of violent left-wing extremism, driven by perceived ‘hatred for civilization itself.’
Fox News Digital reports the State Department’s classification of Autistici/Inventati (A/I Collective) as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist due to its support for far-left extremist networks.
Websites Go Dark
Following the terrorist designation, sites affiliated with Portland’s Rose City Antifa and the militant abortion-rights group Jane’s Revenge have gone offline. Among them is Rose City Counter-Info, which allegedly coordinated violent actions against federal agents.
Jane’s Revenge is also implicated in using A/I services to claim responsibility for violent acts, like the firebombing of a crisis pregnancy center in Madison, Wisconsin in May 2022.
Shutdowns and Legal Actions
After the designation, many servers and websites used by extremist groups closed. Some sites could still be accessed, while others experienced errors. NoBlogs, a platform containing thousands of sites, faced intermittent outages.
The State Department did not confirm if U.S. agencies directly disabled A/I infrastructure. The actions may originate from decisions within the collective or its affiliates.
The FBI is actively identifying funding and subjects related to far-left protests through its new mission center.
Impact of Sanctions
Americans and U.S. financial institutions are prohibited from engaging with A/I, and its U.S. assets are frozen. A/I’s services, supporting violent left-wing groups in the U.S. and Europe, include encryption, web hosting, and anonymity tools.
A media outlet using A/I services allegedly spread materials from Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorist organizations.
A/I Responds
The A/I Collective denied the allegations, highlighting its focus on digital self-defense. In a statement, they claim, “Antifascism and anticapitalism are not terrorism.”
The State Department says the terror designation significantly disrupts far-left networks affecting the U.S. and allied nations.
