The morning is dreary outside my window, making for a perfect time to dive into a fresh edition of Saturday Screencaps. Feeling thankful not to have tasked assistant editor SeanJo with work this weekend.
On Friday, I took a half-day off to enjoy golf with my text group, despite winds blowing at 20 mph and gusts reaching 25–30 mph. At day’s end, I wanted nothing more than to be indoors. But, at least the golfing wasn’t all bad.
Promising Talent from Cannes
American Sydney Thomas impressed on Friday in Cannes, France. She’s quickly becoming a notable figure. Recently, I highlighted her journey from a University of Alabama grad to navigating celebrity poker within pop culture.

Her presence at the event signifies her rising dominance. It’s American determination in action.
Teaching Responsibilities
Brandon S. shares a practical parenting moment: teaching his 9-year-old the responsibility of dealing with weeds using a flamethrower. Reflecting on personal loss, he emphasizes preparing his children for future independence and responsibilities.

Neighborhood Barbecue Highlight
Brad S. showcases a delicious effort for the neighborhood rib burn-off. Two slabs of baby-back ribs, prepared with a popular recipe, take center stage.

Weekend Viewing Recommendations
For indoor entertainment, Mike T. in Idaho suggests the captivating Netflix documentary on Ulysses S. Grant. It’s described as extremely well-produced.
I haven’t caught up on TV this week, aside from some sports.
Yacht Rock Season
Kevin in Naples, Fla., notes Memorial Day weekend as the start of Yacht Rock season. He suggests classics and a few personal favorites for listening.
Suggestions include “Sexy Eyes” by Dr Hook and “Feels So Good” by Chuck Mangione.
Thursday golf featured a friend’s playlist with Keith Urban’s Yacht Rock covers; the choices were unimpressive.
The weekend offers a chance for retail therapy. Considering buying a KombiSystem from Stihl, including an edger and pole saw. With existing tools from Stihl, I aim for efficient gardening.
Enjoy the weekend. Monday brings new opportunities.
