1 hour ago 0

A seaplane traveling from the Hamptons with eight passengers crashed into the East River near the Manhattan waterfront. The incident occurred on a Sunday afternoon, as confirmed by officials.

The Fire Department carried out the rescue operation for all individuals on board. Among the passengers were a 75-year-old woman and her 16-year-old granddaughter. They had spent the Fourth of July weekend in the Hamptons.

The seaplane suddenly crashed into the river during the final moments of their journey back to Manhattan. The accident resulted in the aircraft tipping over with one of its wings submerged.

“I wanted her to have an experience, but this experience was very bad,” said Ada Todd, the grandmother who had traveled in seaplanes before. She expressed gratitude for their survival.

Khloe Todd, the granddaughter, filmed the crash with her cellphone. Despite the frightening experience, none of the passengers sustained serious injuries.

Officials reported that Ada Todd suffered from a headache and back pain following the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration noted the plane had a hard landing, which led to a wing strut snapping. This support brace connects the wing to the fuselage. An investigation into the accident is underway.
