Police in Ohio are actively searching for a 20-year-old suspect, Ka Nye Taylor, and a second unknown shooter following a shooting incident at a neighborhood festival in Toledo. The incident, which occurred on Saturday at the Old West End Festival, resulted in 12 people sustaining injuries.
According to a statement released by the Toledo Police Department on Wednesday, Taylor—who faces 11 counts of felonious assault—was identified after conducting interviews and following investigative leads. Taylor is described as a 5-foot-11 Black man, weighing 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Investigators have also obtained photos of a second shooter and are seeking assistance from the public for identification. Crime Stoppers and the U.S. Marshals Service are offering rewards of $10,000 and $5,000, respectively, for information that leads to their arrests.
The mass shooting, which occurred on Saturday, reportedly stemmed from a dispute between two rival groups, according to police. The oldest victim is 61 years of age and the youngest is 14, with most victims being in their early 20s, as noted by police Lt. Dan Gerken. Toledo Police Chief Michael Troendle stated that while some victims appear to have been specifically targeted, most were innocent bystanders affected by the violence.
Police have estimated that three of the victims were involved in the dispute, while nine were accidental victims caught in the crossfire.
All victims are expected to survive, with nine having been released from the hospital already. Chief Troendle shared that police officials are still working to piece together the events of Saturday night to understand how the shooting unfolded.
