Secretary Lonnie G. Bunch III, in collaboration with others, has co-curated the “American Aspirations” exhibit during a period when the Smithsonian Institution faces federal scrutiny. According to Bunch, this work is not intended as a counterargument to any prevailing narratives.
Construction is underway outside the Smithsonian Castle, where crews work to complete the setup for President Donald Trump’s vision of American history. This initiative is part of the Great American State Fair, an event marking the America 250 celebration on the National Mall.
This 16-day event aims to be a large-scale occasion akin to a World’s Fair. It promises an array of concerts, carnival rides, and exhibits themed around various states. The event intends to celebrate concepts such as “AMERICAN GREATNESS” along with the nation’s heritage, flag, and cherished freedoms.
