Spencer Pratt, a candidate for mayor in Los Angeles, has responded to Governor Newsom’s endorsement of Mayor Karen Bass by labeling them as ‘alleged criminal partners’. His remarks came during a discussion on Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’s contentious homelessness program.
Political commentator Kayleigh McEnany examined the city’s homelessness initiative, emphasizing reports that $418 million has been spent with only 10% effectively aiding those living on the streets. Spencer Pratt has openly criticized the alleged corruption in these efforts, and condemned the mistreatment of animals, specifically dogs, on Skid Row. He also spoke about his mission, guided by faith, to make the city safer for mothers and children. His mayoral campaign is reportedly gaining ground in polls against Bass.

Pratt also capitalized on Mayor Bass’s comments concerning opposition within the homelessness management system. He claimed these remarks support his belief that some entities are exploiting the crisis, which remains a significant issue for Los Angeles.
During an appearance on the television program “Saturday in America,” Pratt addressed Bass’s earlier comments about internal government resistance to reforming homelessness. He stated, “The NGOs are siphoning billions of taxpayer dollars, which in turn increases the number of drug addicts on our sidewalks. She’s complicit. Perhaps that’s the only truthful thing she’s said, acknowledging that they are all corrupt.”
The controversy arose from Bass’s interview with CNN at the St. Vincent Behavioral Health Campus, formerly a hospital being converted into a mental health and housing facility. When questioned about her unmet promise to eliminate homelessness by 2026, Bass pointed to internal resistance.
KAREN BASS GRILLED OVER BROKEN HOMELESSNESS PROMISE
During a public event on May 20, 2026, Spencer Pratt held a campaign block party on 10th Avenue in Los Angeles. He highlighted some challenges he encountered, stating, “The city and county never made such commitments before. I discovered many within the system were resistant to ending homelessness.” She further attributed delays to bureaucratic hurdles and suggested the city historically neglected the homelessness issue.
Pratt seized Bass’s comments, accusing her administration and its affiliates of resisting reforms as they are profiting from the plight of homeless individuals. He said, “The mayor and these NGOs are indirectly responsible for seven homeless people dying a day in deplorable conditions. These individuals are morally corrupt,” Pratt said.
LA MAYORAL CANDIDATE SPENCER PRATT VOWS TO ADDRESS HOMELESSNESS
Fox News Digital reached out to Bass for her response. Pratt pledged to enact heightened oversight of the homelessness crisis, should he be elected Mayor of Los Angeles. He claimed, “I will be one of the most effective mayors in the nation because I will enforce accountability and transparency for every taxpayer dollar, especially in the homelessness sector.”
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass spoke at a press conference, alongside immigrant community leaders, outside a Home Depot in Los Angeles in early September. Pratt announced his candidacy for mayor in January, following support attracted by his comments related to the Palisades Fire, which destroyed his home in 2025. His viral campaign ads and debate performance have gained significant attention.
PRATT ACCUSES LA TIMES JOURNALIST OF INFRINGEMENT
Last week, Pratt accused Bass of campaigning illegally by being near a voting location, which contravenes California election law forbidding campaigning within a 100-foot radius of ballot boxes. A spokesperson for Bass previously informed Fox News Digital, “Spencer is upset because his supporters consist of AI illustrations, whereas our supporters are genuine Angelenos. We follow regulations.”
The spokesperson, Alex Stack, elaborated, “His accusation is incorrect. Two locations were used for filming the video, with one over 200 feet away from the ballot box (signs present) and one near the ballot box (no signs present).”
In Pratt’s formal complaint, his attorney, Peter McNulty, urged the city’s investigation into Bass for “illegal electioneering,” citing the “gravity of the matter.” A related complaint was submitted to state authorities.
