Suspect in Unrelated Case Re-Arrested Amid Ongoing Kidnapping Investigation

Authorities in Arizona have arrested Luke Daley on new charges unrelated to the unsolved abduction of Nancy Guthrie. Daley had been previously detained and released without charges during the investigation into Guthrie’s disappearance. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Daley was taken into custody at the Pima County Adult Detention Complex on September 30, 2026.

Daley, 37, has a history of criminal activity with prior felony convictions. On February 13, police detained him after a traffic stop in a Culver’s parking lot and conducted a search of his mother’s residence. These actions took place during the investigation into Guthrie’s kidnapping, which happened roughly two miles away in the Tucson Catalina Foothills.

Nancy Guthrie was reported missing after being seemingly abducted on February 1. Currently, there are no publicly identified suspects. said a local source. The 84-year-old’s location remains unknown since a masked intruder appeared on her doorstep, captured by a Nest doorbell camera, around the time of her abduction.

Daley’s attorney, Chris Scileppi, stated that Daley has no connection to Guthrie or any information on her kidnapping. He emphasized that both Daley and his mother hope for Guthrie’s safe return.

Daley faces outstanding drug and firearm charges and remains on probation for a previous case involving similar violations. Authorities have requested to revoke his probation.

The search into Guthrie’s disappearance persists. Law enforcement has released ransom notes received by her family, although their authenticity is unverified. There is a reward of over $1.2 million available to anyone providing information that leads to Guthrie’s discovery.
