A 14-year-old boy is in critical condition following a shooting on Friday afternoon in the West Ridge area. This information comes from police sources and an internal notification.
The incident occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on the 6300 block of North Rockwell Street, as reported by an initial notification from Chicago police.
According to a police source, the shots were fired from a blue Honda Accord that quickly left the scene. The boy sustained a neck injury and was transported to Lurie Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
It remains unclear if the child was the intended target of the shooting. The boy’s parents were unharmed but were escorted to the hospital by officers from the Rogers Park (24th) District, according to a police source.
