During Tuesday’s joint practice, the New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys found themselves in the midst of several interruptions due to fights. Despite this, Saints head coach Kellen Moore remained largely untroubled by the situation.
All the chippiness of it, not the ideal flow of a joint practice, but we got the work we need,
Moore explained, as reported by ProFootballTalk.
In contrast, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed his frustration, noting that the skirmishes hindered the productive work planned for the day. Their collaboration as assistants in Dallas in 2022 provided a backdrop to their current positions.
Moore commented on their relationship, mentioning that both he and Schottenheimer relied on their previous working experience to manage the situation. Schotty and I communicated, we know each other from working in the past, so we communicated,
Moore said.
He further emphasized the emotional and passionate nature of football. There’s a lot of rah-rah and emotion to football, and that’s part of it. At the end of the day it’s about executing and running football plays,
he said. Take all the emotion out of it, watch it without all the rah-rah to it and we’ll get some good lessons.
The Saints and Cowboys are set to compete in a preseason game scheduled for August 28.
