3 weeks ago 0

Tim Allen recently shared insights into his initial thoughts on fatherhood and the regrets he carries today, as well as the impact of his 30-year sobriety. In an interview with US Weekly, Allen admitted that he “never really wanted” to be a father and described his journey into parenthood as a “work in progress.”

“I joke about it on stage; I’ve just never been a real fan of children,” Allen stated, emphasizing that fatherhood was not something he initially sought. He is a father to two daughters, Katherine Allen and Elizabeth Allen-Dick. Katherine is shared with his first wife, Laura Deibel, while Elizabeth is with his current wife, Jane Hajduk.

Allen opened up about his parenting experiences, noting that his wife, Jane, wished for more children, believing you learn from raising the first few. He reflected on the different world he perceives in raising girls, coming from a family dominated by boys.

Regarding his attempt to bond with his daughters, Allen said, “We communicate on a different level.” He realized over time that his guidance on matters like finances and self-reliance resonated with his daughters, despite his disinterest in “girl stuff” such as clothing and gossip.

Allen also touched on his struggles with sobriety, revealing he was not sober during his oldest daughter’s formative years. He made amends to her and emphasized the difference sobriety has made in his interactions with his younger daughter.

Reflecting on his past, Allen recounted his early missteps, including his time in prison and how that led to his resolve to change. After reading about successful people during incarceration, he decided to focus on personal growth, vowing never to repeat past mistakes.
