Trump Campaigns for Marshall in Tight Kansas Senate Race

41 minutes ago 0

President Donald Trump announced plans for a rally in support of Republican Senator Roger Marshall in Kansas. This comes as polling indicates Democrat Adam Hamilton leading slightly, with less than three weeks until Election Day. Marshall, a doctor, holds a Senate seat that has belonged to the GOP since 1919, the longest ever for one party in this position.

On Truth Social, Trump referred to Marshall as a “favorite Senator.” Historically, midterm elections challenge the party in power. They often lose seats, which could impact the Republicans’ current slim majority in both the House and Senate. Trump won Kansas by a significant margin against Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, showing its Republican inclination. However, Democrats, like Governor Laura Kelly, have found some success in the state.

Adam Hamilton’s spokesperson, Tyson Brody, accused Washington of sending millions to divert attention from Marshall’s record on issues like supporting war in Iran and healthcare reductions. Brody criticized Marshall for allegedly having pregnant women arrested over medical bills and blocking Epstein files’ release.

Trump defended Marshall, stating he was wrongly accused of seeking compensation from patients. Trump believes it’s a legal obligation to collect such debts. The Cook Political Report recently classified the race as a Toss-Up due to Hamilton’s strong campaign and criticism focused on Marshall’s billing practices. Marshall dismissed the ad about his office as false.

“Marshall labeled Hamilton a ‘radical Democrat’ and criticized his sermons for aligning with the Democratic Party platform. Trump added that Hamilton loves high taxes and open borders, suggesting he wouldn’t choose Hamilton as a pastor.”

Hamilton is a pastor at the largest United Methodist Church in the United States, the Church of the Resurrection, founded in 1990. Trump’s post accused Hamilton of turmoil within his church, causing division. He also alleged mishandling of abuse cases involving a camp counselor. Hamilton’s campaign denies cover-up claims, as reported by the Kansas Reflector.

Trump promised a Kansas Style Rally to honor Marshall, asserting Marshall’s dedication to the state. Polls vary, with some showing Hamilton slightly ahead or tied with Marshall. Prediction markets placed Marshall ahead, but YouGov and other polls suggest a close race.

Marshall recently addressed an unpaid 2020 cookie bill involving Holly’s Sweet Treats, stating his campaign paid the invoice immediately after discovering it.
