U.S. Coast Guard Investigates Missing Person Case in the Bahamas

The U.S. Coast Guard has taken possession of an 8-foot dinghy related to the disappearance of Lynette Hooker in the Bahamas in early April. CBS News captured images of investigators retrieving the vessel and transferring it to a Coast Guard cutter.

Brian Hooker, Lynette’s husband, informed authorities that the couple was on a nighttime journey when Lynette fell from the dinghy and was carried away by strong waters. This incident reportedly occurred near Elbow Cay, leading him to paddle back to shore without keys for the boat.

U.S. Coast Guard investigators, along with a cadaver dog, examined the dinghy for possible clues. The vessel’s identification is crucial to understanding events from the night of Lynette Hooker’s disappearance.

Brian Hooker, initially held by Bahamian authorities for five days, was released without any charges. He denies any involvement in Lynette’s disappearance and has returned to the United States.
