Utah Judge Tony Graf Oversees High-Profile Case

1 hour ago 0

Judge Tony Graf of Utah’s Fourth District Court is overseeing a significant case involving Charlie Kirk’s death. This week, Judge Graf is conducting a hearing to assess if enough evidence exists to proceed with the trial of Tyler Robinson, accused of killing Kirk, a prominent conservative activist.

Appointed by Governor Spencer Cox, Judge Graf took office in August 2025, filling a vacancy. His legal career includes serving as a prosecutor in Davis County and Utah County, where the incident with Kirk occurred last year.

Governor Cox, a Republican, praised Graf’s appointment for his steady leadership and ethical standards in the judiciary. Judge Graf holds a bachelor’s and law degree from the University of Utah and a master’s in criminal justice from Weber State University.

Since assuming his role, Judge Graf has managed several high-profile cases. These include matters involving child sexual abuse and threats against prominent Utah figures, even Governor Cox.

The ongoing hearing regarding Kirk’s case began on Monday and will extend through the week. It will determine if the prosecution has sufficient evidence to take Robinson to trial for the alleged fatal shooting on a Utah university campus last fall.
