In recent years, a significant change has occurred within the Creative Artists Agency (CAA), a major Hollywood talent firm. Traditionally, digital creators were on the periphery of its focus. Now, they are taking a leading role.
In a noteworthy meeting held in March at CAA’s headquarters, 16 people gathered in a conference room while others joined virtually. They convened to strategize for Dhar Mann, a content creator with over 170 million social media followers. Mann’s team included agents from CAA Creators, a new division, along with representatives from the agency’s various departments such as scripted television, film, and brand marketing.
Dhar Mann, who signed with CAA in 2021, remarked on how unusual it was to see so many CAA agents focused on a digital creator. “In the past, this kind of attention was reserved for A-list directors or actors,” he explained.
This evolution within CAA underscores a broader trend. Digital creators have transitioned from outsiders to significant players in Hollywood. Recently, the agency has worked aggressively to elevate its roster of digital creators. It has signed high-profile influencers, attracted specialized agents from rival firms, and strengthened its commitment to this growing sector.
New additions include the Stokes Twins, who are known for elaborate pranks and have amassed 140 million followers on YouTube. Ben Azelart, known for extreme challenges with 51 million followers, and Rebecca Zamolo, creator of family-friendly videos with 23 million followers, have also joined. New agents at CAA include Greg Goodfried and Kendall Ostrow, who bring expertise in digital content and platforms.
