2 weeks ago 0

The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) disclosed that a former healthcare worker attempted to sell confidential patient information pertaining to Princess Kate. This involved details of her abdominal surgery at a prestigious private clinic favored by the royal family.

This breach occurred while the individual was employed at the London Clinic. The breach was first reported in March 2024 during a period when Princess Kate was secretly receiving cancer treatment.

The ICO released a statement following its criminal investigation, stating: “The ICO issued a now former healthcare professional from London with a formal caution in relation to an offence under section 170(5) of the Data Protection Act 2018.”

The conduct in question involved an effort to misuse highly sensitive personal data with the intention of financial gain, highlighting a severe breach of trust.

The ICO evaluates evidence and public interest in all criminal probes. In this case, they deemed a caution as both an appropriate and a proportionate response.

This story is ongoing and further updates will be provided as they become available.
